" it was when I stopped searching for home within others and lifted the foundations of home within myself I found there were no roots more intimate than those between a mind and body that have decided to be whole. " ~ Rupi Kaur
Have we lost touch with the ground we walk on? Have we really given it that much thought? I am remembering times where walking barefoot, having picnics and laying out in the sun was a thing. Who does this anymore and why don’t we? The things that make you go hmmmmm. In my opinion it’s past time to get re-connected to the electric energy that the ground provides. Being un-grounded and in complete disconnection with the earth, is leaving us out of touch and ill with anxieties and not being able to focus. There has been reported studies detailing the benefits of grounding/earthing as well as how to accomplish this delightful task, also indicating that the results will leave you feeling better, protected and strong, including having a sense of being centered and balanced, less tense and less stressed. All of which are a PLUS!
9 beneficial activities found to be of great impact to keeping grounded and mindful.
Looking in the mirror at yourself and speaking words of power to yourself has an amazing effect on how you view you! Doing this allows you to see you for who you are and gives you a sense of understanding that you are a spiritual being having the experience of being human and that all things are possible. This also allows you to keep a constant reminder that you are not ONLY the body and that this body does not represent who you are in your totality. It is best to stay mindful that different emotions may come with this activity such as doubt, fear, not feeling worthy or loved and you may even shed some tears. Know that this is normal, okay, and it is part of the growing/grounding process and soon you will know and believe everything you say good to you about you! For optimal results do this daily. Morning affirmations seem to get your day off to a great start.
Get out in nature, go to the park and just BE. SILENT. Lye back in the grass and gaze up at the skies (even the sun, of course when it’s safe to do so) the best times to sun gaze are said to be as early as the sunrises and as late as the sunsets. This task connects you to the earth in which you stand, bringing a sense of ONENESS with all that’s out there and all that is. Take a couple days a week for 20 minutes each day to see and really feel the amazement.
Take off your shoes and dig your soles into the earth! Yes, its perfectly fine to walk on the earth without foot coverings. You’d be amazed at how connected you will feel by doing this simple act. I like to do this daily, especially in the warmer months.
Dance, Dance and Dance! Turn on your favorite sounds and just move your body. Let the music take you and release your expressions. This feels soooo good. This activity can also release any stagnant energies or stresses that have been lodged within the body. Again, this feels so amazing! I would do this at least twice a week.
Eating less GMO foods, and eating MORE ROOT VEGETABLES. GMO foods are foods that have been genetically altered by removing one or more of the genes from the DNA of one organism and combining them into what it is that’s being altered. Root vegetables contain vitamins, minerals and fiber and can also help fight cancer, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and obesity. Eating a variety is good for your health. Stay mindful of portion control. Starting by eating one-two small (a cup cooked) servings a day. Some root vegetables you can try by boiling, mashing, grilling, baking or roasting are sweet potatoes, carrots, beets, turnips, butternut squash, artichokes. Creativity can go a long way when preparing these vegetables! Have fun with it!
Meditation & Yoga with patient practice helps to calm and quiet the mind of all that may be going on in our brains. If you are anything like me, it’s like your mind never stops. You’re thinking about this, you’re thing about that and all at the same time. It’s like the energizer bunny…it just keeps going and going and going! Using a meditation technique of stopping and sitting in a comfortable position with some light music and no interruption will help to slow down the thoughts that run at full speed through our heads. Yoga can help bring awareness of our body back into our body. I think most times we take our bodies for granted and how they function as well as move. Practicing yoga daily can even help with our meditations. These can also bring forth an increased sense of confidence and self-worth thus helping us stay grounded.
Using crystals, gemstones, minerals from the earth for grounding is a great option. These can also be used in our meditation exercises by holding it in your hands as well as or wearing jewelry. When choosing your crystals always choose what feels right to you, your intuition will lead you. Always understand that with becoming connected with the earths’ energy there will be things that will come up that have been buried deep within. This is okay and will help you along your grounding practices. Black Tourmaline, Selenite, Indigo Gabbro, Smoky Quartz, Shungite, Hematite, Jasper and Prasiolite are some crystals that could be of use with grounding, centering. balancing and healing.
Take a bath! The WATER is my all time favorite. I feel so at home in the water, I think I’m a mermaid. I could stay in the water forever. Using the water to relax and ground yourself has an amazing benefit helping to feel connected and much lighter once letting the water run down and feel what the water feels like on your body. As a bonus to my baths, I also like to send my reiki energy into the bath along with lavender essential oil, dried lavender and rose petals.
BREATHE just BREATHE. Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. Out in nature barefoot would be a great place. Standing or seated so that your soles are touching the ground. Set your intention of being grounded. Close your eyes, rest your tongue at the roof of your mouth and pay attention to your breath. Breathing deeply in through your nose, holding the breath, and then releasing through your mouth. Do this several times and then imagine that you are so grounded that roots are coming from your feet and entering the earth as deep as the roots of the trees which will keep you connected. Imagine all the life, all the energy from the earth traveling through these roots up into your soles, then your legs, and then your hips. Continue to let this energy pull on you and ground you as you visualize and feel the energy flowing. Once you’re ready you can open your eyes.
Remember ALL things Beauty. Health. and Wealth. starts with Self.
